[ mood | don't like packing ]

hoooly crap
i leave tomorrow morning and the next day ill be in barcelona.

fortunately my leg is almost healed, for a while i had a big ugly sore looking like what that guy from "requiem for a dream" had on the side of my calf.

turns out while i was away, my father threw away a pair of my pants (the ones which were fast becoming completely patchwork) needless to say i was furious, seeing as how i only have a very few pairs of non-school pants. Now i can't find my old backpack which i was going to mend, and i have a sneaking suspicion he might've found that too.

once again me & jarred went & hung out in chinatown. I got some orange BEEF (id only ever heard of orange chicken) it was pretty good but i couldnt decide wether it was better than the chicken.

looks like my attempt to grow potatoes has failed. i followed the directions expressly but nothings coming up. thanks alot, internet.

for making me miss rebrot, acampada jove, the patum, st. joan, Lawrence of Arabia at the silver theatre, Orwell Rolls In His Grave AND the DNC & RNC protests and such, this vacation OWES me. honestly, it better be good. my whole year will probably be hingeing on it.

back from the back woods [19 Jul 2004|12:29pm]
so i just got back from outward bound and the north woods of maine which was fuckin awesome. I have an intense farmers tan, arms and legs covered in scabs and cuts, and a big painful red rash covered in big puss jewels so that i cant walk very well down one calf to show for it.

My group was pretty cool. We had a serb girl from portland named bogdana; this druggie chick from mass., steph; this kid named erich from conneticut who was pretty funny; Ryan Hennecy aka 'doughthrow', this big football-player from boston; Christy, who lives in wisconsin and was always asking me for stories about evil corporations; and this chick anna from VA with whom i had some pretty interesting discussions. we also had one girl who brought a weed cookie so she would be asked to leave, and this kid doug who finally managed to leave when he scalded his leg.

speaking of, Anna (whose school apparenlty only has a few white ppl in it) was telling us about how at the dances at her school, all the ghetto people come with gallons of milk& wave them over their heads when they dance because its the 'ghetto thing to do'. Has anyone else seen this or have any idea why the fuck anyone would wave milkjugs over their head at dances?

yeah so 22 days in the woods was definitely awesome. i miss it already & ive only been home like 2 days. I'm going to Barcelona i a week (woo) but unfortunately Rebrot & Acampada Jove end tomorrow, so im gonna miss them for like the 3d year in a row. oh well, next year. Anyway, thats enough for now.

[ mood | eh ]

umm so.
went on a stabucks safari today 'cause i was bored. fun enough. unfortunately theres also a chipotle just moved in. Silver Spring is going to hell.

amnesty jam was pretty good. we made somethin like $240, but i still have most of the bake sale in my fridge. im thinking of selling it on the street. KYY was good, and so was Mr. Woodard (i'd never heard them before). Unfortunately Excellone or whoever it was before them took forever took like an hour to warm up and were pretty crappy but eh. That wierd guy joel who works at the maid was loosing it and having convulsions because "psycho cop" was gonna get people if they stepped on the sidewalk. Before people got there he kept running back and forth across the room crazily...even though the $5 is just a 'suggested donation' he insisted on marking everybody's hands. At one point he practically lost it and ran over and was all worked up spitting in my face about how excellone was taking forever and how somebody jumped over the chain in the back of the alley, and some fence was all bent or somehting...and that the show had to end right away as a result...but then mr. woodard was like 'oh, mr, please let us play a set, we're very quiet &c' and so he crumbled and let them finish the show. man that guy is wierd.

Mr kolar showed up, and he ended up giving me a ride home. He told me about Zapata and Sandino. he's one cool guy. Aurelie was there till 9, and veronica left with her. none of the other people i knew showed up...hey, thats cool...all in all i think it went well, anyway. Except for that fat guy with a moustache who ate a cookie and then couldn't find 25 cents.

uuh...so im gonna see if chinatown is a possibility tomorrow. Sunday i guess ill see Aurelie, i have to give her her cds and maybe sell those left over baked goods. Monday is lunch w/ Mme. Touzeau and probly the concert, then on tuesday i hooope i can see Lauren. Woden's day i leave.

Wednesday, lauren came down. that was fun. we went with willie and glen and people to see eternal sunsine for the spotless mind.

Today, i went with aurelie to try and spend all my christmas gift certificates--i bought a skatalites compilation, and this clash compilation with...probly every song of theirs. And they have lrics for everyone. And a booklet that talks about the band and has their comments on every song. Thus far, it looks like it was worth it.

Amnesty jam is coming together nicely

Before leaving, i think i have to: go to the brian MacKenzie infoshop, go to the store in georgetown Willie drew me a map to, go down by the docks in washingon (i've never been), go pick up amnesty supplies from someplace downtown, go to chinatown with the 'asian cuisine club', have lunch with Mme Touzeau, go to the big ska show at 9:30, annd...I think that's it. Go to amnesty jam.

that's probly not enough things for from here to the 22nd, though.

[ mood | industrious ]

hooray for summer.
i remember other summers being boring as crap
but i've been busy all day.
i cut a red bandana and a black bandana in half and sewed the two together, so now i have one red-and-black bandana like that guy at the protest, or like the ones orwell described in barcelona during the spanish civil war.
i planted potatoes. I hope they hurry up.
I'm almost done reading 'the da Vinci code' (summer reading) very interesting.

tomorrow should also be industrious

lauren should come on wednesday; if i get the rest of the Amnesty Jam info i'd like to fill in the maid people too

i'm gonna go try and spend some of my christmas gift certificates thursday before they expire

apparently IWW is holding a meeting friday. Not like i'm an industrial worker, but i could drop by subtly and descreetly observe. If i find nothing better to do, that is. how about industrious workers.

In the near future is the amnesty jam, a blind hang-out with shannon the willis, tea with mme. Touzeau and a whole host of other things. we'll see.

[ mood | okay ]

louise attaque kicks ass.

so this summer im going to outward bound first thign for a month. wlaking across the wilds of maine. should be exiting actually.

so this week was exhausting as thit...i gave my anthropos presentation finally this morning...it was fucking horrible, but i said something vaguely philosophical and mr kiley got all exited and gave me an a+. shrug.

lets see...last friday i went down to the metro to spend the evening in takoma...i got bothered by those same bitchy metro police but otherwide had an uneventul trip there...when i arrived noone i knew had yet arrived, so i walked up the street to hang out in that basement bookstore. I mustve spent an hour reading about cossacks, and when i came out i ran into april, eugene and katie. wow, it had been a while. First we took pictures of things being run over and such, and then we rode around in eugenes van for a bit before coming back to hang out at the maid. funnest thing i did this week or last, i think. this past month has been a bitch. oh well, schools almost out. seniors last day was today.

no school tomorrow, but my weekend is packed with music shit. hopefully ill find something to do tomorrow.

so i think i sprained a muscle in my side..it hurts to breathe, which kindof sucks.

SO they found a snakehead fish--the kind that can bite you, eat anything, swim, climb out of the water and walk across land, and which i think also carry some toxxin--in pine lake near GC the other day...and so they're draining the whole lake...
so me Jarred, and Aj went down to pine lake after school the other day...we piled into Jarred's truck (which i wrote 'SNAKE HEAD TASK FORCE' on the front of in big letters)well, when we got there i was a little dissapointed...the newspaper had said they would be done draining the lake by then, but it was only about a foot lower. Also we didnt see and snakeheads. oh well. We did see a swarm of about a billion guppies squirming in the shallows.

[09 May 2004|12:26am]
[ mood | thirsty ]

yes...so like i was going to say aboutt he saturday demonstration...like 2 weeks ago..
basically me, jason fox, Lewis and nazelrod met up at GC around 11:30...another freshman kid showed up asking if we were goign to the demonstration, but i think when his dad found out we were going unsupervised he had to go back home...oh well
So we found the whole protest down at some park in dc...we ran into the fettos and their friend, and at some point mr Kolar showed up randomly, but he was only around for a moment before he dissapeared again.
One interesting thing, a group of capitalist libertarians were set up next to the democratic socialists...they were wearing red shirts that said 'capitalism' in the coca-cola font...i figgured that was ironic, and didnt realize what they were at first. They were also drinking pepsi. i thought that was a little out of place at an anti-globalization protest, but i didnt pay much attention to it, either. Anyway, they gave me this 'globalization quiz' which basically talked about how good capitalism was for the economies of 3d world countries. This fucker looks up at me after spewing all these figures and says
'capitalism is awesome, man'
Of course they didnt mention its impact on culture, nor workers, nor did it talk about how those 3d world countries arent able to develop independent economies and just become US colonies...i was about to argue with him, and probably shoudlve, but i just looked at him, thinking about where to start, and he just went 'i know! i know!' and held his hands up...id heard him talking to someone while i was takign my quiz about how they (libertarians) tended to get alot of abuse at these protests already, so i thought why bother.
There were also a group of marxist kids with berets and a big soviet flag...and at one point, while the protest was marchign past a mcdonalds, i saw these fuckers on the top floor, waving their flag out the window and eating mcflurries. what. the . fuck. i was embarassed as shit for them. You go to an IMF/World Bank protest to EAT MCDONALDS????!?!?!. ANd of course all the anarchist kids were like 'holy fuck look...quick...take a picture!...' aagh. so embarrasing.
A few stops on we protested in front of my dads work (he works for the AIDB...basically a smaller world bank) which was hugely ironic but also very fun. Around then we found Aurelie, too.
The best part of the whole protest, however, was this veery tall lanky white guy with a mess of curly red hair...he had a little knit hat on top of his hair, a sleevless shirt that came to somewhere above his navel, a pair of pink socks and pants too small for him...he danced around playing a little flute...it was the coolest thing ive ever seen.

We're meeting in front of Good Counsel:
tomorrow after school
Saturday @ 11:30
and taking the metro down to the WORLD BANK/IMF protests to participate in the demonstrations against WB/IMF policies and to distribute information to the general public on WHY we're protesting.

We're also meeting in front of GC on SUNDAY @ 11:30 to participate in the women's rights march going on downtown (and some additional IMF/WB protesting on the last day of their meeting)

Mr. Kolar has a greed to sign service hours forms for participating, although people should come if they actually are intersted in the causes.

i just took this, and then got angry because it said "12th Century French", but the quote is in Provençau. And then i realized i'm a looser.

So this week has been spring break...i did some stuff, but yeah. None of it is worth posting, at least not that i rememer. Me and Aurelie did hang out though, we went downtown to see the Maya stuff...you know how that is, largely just people's fingernails being pulled out, severed heads, people steppign on each other's necks. And incredibly oversized gaudy jewlery and hairstyles. I liked it though.

Then yesterday, i was gonna go to bethesda to see "Good-Bye Lenin," but i decided to leave a little early because someone had posted in DC activists' community about a die-in they were gonna have down by the silver spring metro to make sure people don't forget that there's a war still going on, lots of people dying, and Bush apparently doesn't yet know who he's going to hand Iraq over to in a couple of months... When i got there there was only one other person, but we made some chalk drawings, and found out she was Aaron's cousin and had heard about aurelie and heard about me, apparently, through him. wow. small world.
So then a whole mess of people came, and i was thinking holy crap, there must be more than like...10 people here who are VOLUNTARILY protesting the war, not just to get out of class or something, actually taking the initiative to make flyers and come down here and crap. it was crazy.

Some kid was drawing a big "NO WAR" type deal where everyone could see it, though, and the metro police (not real police anyway) came up, and said that what he was doing (with crayola sidewalk chalk, keep in mind) was GRAFITTI, which was an "automatic lock-up." They didn't arrest him, but they asked him quesitons and wrote very slowly in a notebook. very slowly. I don't know why cops always have to be so slow about just writing people up. I saw one of those bike police once (with the short-sorts and the big yellow raincoats) writing up a mentaly handicapped asian immigrant for peeing in the bushes...it literally took him like half an hour to ask the guy questions, walk a few steps, scold him, write something, aske him questions, scold him, write something, walk a few steps...by the time he was done everybody in wheaton knew the guy had pissed in the bushes, poor guy.
But besides that, it was pretty cool, since im the master of handing out flyers and stuff. we also had a banner, some people laying on the floor all bloody and "dead," we held up some signs and tried to get people engaged in conversation &c Turns out everyone there were MCSPJ veterans and they all knew big Kallmyer and Sebastian. Unfortunately i had to leave early to get to Bethesda, but the movie was really good.

uuuh...also we have some guests staying with us, which means i cant get on the computer at night, but oh well...and i bought a new instrument. The end.

i wounder what i'm gonna do now.

Llama Packing. woo. [12 Apr 2004|08:33pm]
[ mood | donno ]

so.
i just got back today form west virginia.
ummm.
it was mediocre... it was pretty woody and mountanous and all, but for some reason it was really depressing...probably because its the middle of effing nowhere and im isolated from civilization but at the same time there were people everywhere. I spent most of it sitting in the car thinking about how to blow up/chop up/ push off the mountain all the roads before the park service would be able to fix them. our cottage smelled like cigarettes masked with nasty fabreeze.

!!! although i did finally get to watch iron chef. oooh man. !!!

and also i got to go llama packing in virginia on friday before we went to WV...that was fucking AWESOME... so now i know how to harness and saddle and whatever its called a llama...and how to approach a llama...and all that crap. I actually got to see the llama spit on the owner...apparently it was just a minor spit, but it was pretty cool nonetheless...it was green and basically just looked like digested grass. i got to lead the 'alpha male' llama, santiago, who kept wanting to waunder off into the woods but i managed to keep ahold of him...even though he had a bit of an attitude... he actually reared up on his hind legs at some point...i think he was getting pissed off with another llama or something...i just mention it because seeing a llama rar up on its hind legs...like a horse would do..its pretty crazy. at least to me.

first entry in a billion years. [08 Apr 2004|07:30pm]
[ mood | sick ]

so its been a while.
monday night we got back frm the band trip to Orlando...exhausting as crap. Mostly it was just stripmalls, amusementparks, fastfood and hotels. We went to Universal, and then to Disney...i brought an effload of posters about disneys sweatshops and the hiring of pedophiles and posted them scretly all over the park...and they didnt catch me, and i didnt go to mickey jail. because aj says her dad got sent there once for running in a no-running area and then sassing the disney police. We also stopped at the 2nd biggest McDonalds in the world, and i didnt even have any markers so i just spoke loudly about how they were evil. And then me and tiffany (the lewdest person in the world...she's disgusting) walked over to the gas station because she had to buy somethgin lewd. Im not sure what.
and on the million hour bussride i saw:
-Forrest Gump (id never seen the whole thing)
-Pirates of the carribean (woo! i also rode the ride)
-Zoolander (most helarious crap for crap ever)
-Finding Nemo (eh..)
-The Lion King (i tried to block it out with my headphones but it was overpowering)
-Office Space (HAHAHA finally)
-Ferris Bueler's (sp?) day off (i rememeber seeing part of it on tv when i was realy young)
-liar liar (seen it)
-Ace ventura II (wow it's been a while)
i think thats it.

So since the maid is open again we're gonna try and have an amnesty jam before the summer... not sure it'll be at the maid, though, because wer're not evenr eeealy sure its open or if we'll be able to get a spot...and shannon seems to think you can only have 20 people in there at a time or something (?) oh well. katie mcd says her church rents out sometimes, and we'll ask about some other places. hopefully it'll work out.

i found some effing newsweek at school today and id had the most blatantly effing wrong artcle ever..mother of god...i sent them a bitchy letter.

oh i almost forgot. SPRING BREAK. so much effing work to do..for one i have to do my 'anthropos' project, where basically i write a story and draw some pictures and talk about how it reflects my life in it. I hate this project.
and then i'm gonna make the terrorist video w aurelie
and im gonna see shannon tomorrow, since my spring break starts right as everyone elses ends, so yeah.

and on saturday me and my family go LLAMA PACKING. I probuly shoudl be more psyched, but im kinda not eager to spend the weekend in West Virginia with my family. poo.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040312/ap_on_re_eu/spain_bombings&cid=518&ncid=716
and of course that fucking nazi Aznar takes this opportunity to gain some votes...elections are 3 days away, so he blames the attacks on ETA, since if people are all riled up about ETA they'll be more likely to vote for his party, the PP becaue they take a strong stance against ETA. Of course, as soon as it happens they point fingers at the basques without even looking into it, and even now that its clear that it WASNT them, they sill keep it up. ok, so now lets look at the facts:
-ETA has always claimed responsibility for their attacks, and in fact usually does so BEFORE the attack occurs.
-ETA denied any involvement.
-In a 3- page entry in an arabic newspaper, the "Brigade of Abu Hafs al-Masri" claimed responsibility in the name of Al Quaeda
-An attack this close to the elections would be incredibly bad for ETA and unusually convinient for the PP
-A van containing detonators and a tape with passages from the Koran was found near the attacks.

whats more, this just doesent look like ETA's handiwork...theyve never done this kindof an attack...they go for individual enemies usually, not large groups of civilians. whats more, a bunch of ETA leaders and resources have been captured recently, so i dont think they'd be in very god shape for such a massive attack now...
